Roger Hirst, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, has praised our health, emergency services, local authority, business, voluntary sector and charity colleagues as Essex responds to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Our NHS and Public Health colleagues are busy working around the clock and our emergency services and local authorities are supporting them.

“I have assurances from both the Chief Constable and the Chief Fire Officer that both services are putting everything in place to ensure they can operate effectively, delivering frontline, operational services to keep people safe as well as reducing the risk to their own people. Every day, our police officers, firefighters, staff and volunteers walk towards danger and risk, rising to whatever challenge comes their way to protect the public. The way they are responding to this pandemic is no different.

“I would also like to thank all those in our commissioned services who offer support to victims who are ensuring business continuity measures are in place so they can continue to provide services and support to the people who need it.

“This is an unprecedented time and there is a lot of worry for everyone. I am confident that as always, Essex will work together to help and support all of those who have been affected.”
