What is a Volunteer Reservist?

 Volunteer Reservists

Volunteers are currently required to assist hospitals across Mid and South Essex, especially in an emergency situation. The aim is to alleviate the work carried out by nurses, which can be undertaken by volunteers, for instance a Ward Runner to take items between wards or other parts of the hospital.
We ask that volunteers are able to commit to at least four hours of their time per month. They will be asked to agree to undertake training, Occupational Health Checked, be DBS checked and provide photographic ID to protect the vulnerable patients.
The opportunities involve them providing days and times of a week when we can call upon them should the need arise, possibly in an emergency situation, for example, staff sickness, absences or a sudden influx of patients. It is not a regular slot each week which the volunteer has specified their availability.
